Shehbazpura is a village of Raikot tehsil in Ludhiana district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Raikot, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Raikot community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 033732, and it covers 635 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,513 people in Shehbazpura: 1,323 men and 1,190 women, living in 491 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household. Spread over its 635 hectares, the population density works out to about 396 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 899 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 256, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,225 people, about 49 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 76.16 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 81.5 per cent and women at 70.27 per cent. The census recorded 816 workers, about 32 per cent of the village. Of the 713 main workers, the largest group, 290, were cultivators on their own land, ahead of 204 other workers in trade, transport and services and 202 agricultural labourers. A further 103 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
