Where is Bani Lodhi?

Bani Lodhi is a village of Pathankot tehsil in Pathankot district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Sujanpur, about 12 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Sujanpur community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 027551, and it covers 196 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,563 people in Bani Lodhi: 1,319 men and 1,244 women, living in 532 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 196 hectares, the population density works out to about 1,308 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 943 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 271, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,135 people, about 44 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 83.42 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 88.59 per cent and women at 78.06 per cent. The census recorded 720 workers, about 28 per cent of the village.
