Where is Danwal?

Danwal is a village of Pathankot tehsil in Pathankot district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Pathankot, about 28 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bamial community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 027699, and it covers 91 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 459 people in Danwal: 244 men and 215 women, living in 85 households, an average of about 5.4 people per household. Spread over its 91 hectares, the population density works out to about 504 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 881 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 54, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 153 people, about 33 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
