The 2011 census counted 2,136 people in Bolar Kalan: 1,124 men and 1,012 women, living in 376 households, an average of about 5.7 people per household. Spread over its 623 hectares, the population density works out to about 343 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 900 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 201, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 428 people, about 20 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 68.01 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 72.89 per cent and women at 62.6 per cent.
