Where is Faridpur?

Faridpur is a village of Dudhan Sadhan tehsil in Patiala district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Sanaur, about 30 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bhunerheri community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 036766, and it covers 240 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 503 people in Faridpur: 256 men and 247 women, living in 99 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household. Spread over its 240 hectares, the population density works out to about 210 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 965 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 67, about 13 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 131 people, about 26 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 72.02 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 73.76 per cent and women at 70.23 per cent.
