Janherian is a village of Patiala tehsil in Patiala district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Patiala, about 14 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Patiala community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 036490, and it covers 359 hectares.

The 2011 census counted 1,237 people in Janherian: 678 men and 559 women, living in 226 households, an average of about 5.5 people per household.
