Where is Kalbano?

Kalbano is a village of Patran tehsil in Patiala district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Ghagga, about 3 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Patran community development block and is served by the Kalwanoo gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 036282, and it covers 1,660 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 4,932 people in Kalbano: 2,591 men and 2,341 women, living in 889 households, an average of about 5.5 people per household. Spread over its 1,660 hectares, the population density works out to about 297 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 904 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 651, about 13 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,385 people, about 28 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 59.8 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 67.02 per cent and women at 51.91 per cent.
