Where is Raj Garh?

Raj Garh is a village in Nabha tehsil of Patiala district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Nabha, about 10 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nabha community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 036394, and it covers 231 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 967 people in Raj Garh: 528 men and 439 women, living in 197 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 231 hectares, the population density works out to about 419 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 831 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 77, about 8 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 445 people, about 46 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 71.8 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 80.21 per cent and women at 61.95 per cent. The census recorded 283 workers, about 29 per cent of the village. Nabha, the tehsil headquarters, and Patiala, the district headquarters, are the practical hubs for administration and onward travel. Neighbouring villages include Bir Dosanjhan, Kameli, Saluwala and Udha.
