Bhalian is a village in Chamkaur Sahib tehsil of Rupnagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Puadh region, and the 2011 directory recorded Chamkaur Sahib, about 1 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Chamkaur Sahib community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 038846, and it covers 195 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,178 people in Bhalian: 652 men and 526 women, living in 253 households, an average of about 4.7 people per household. Spread over its 195 hectares, the population density works out to about 604 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 807 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 91, about 8 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 324 people, about 28 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 86.94 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 92.05 per cent and women at 80.54 per cent.
