Where is Chotamla?

Chotamla is a village of Chamkaur Sahib tehsil in Rupnagar district, Punjab, in the Puadh region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Morinda, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Morinda community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 038943, and it covers 365 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,122 people in Chotamla: 597 men and 525 women, living in 228 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 365 hectares, the population density works out to about 307 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 879 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 117, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 653 people, about 58 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
