Where is Jatpur?

Jatpur is a village of Anandpur Sahib tehsil in Rupnagar district, Punjab, in the Puadh region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Anandpur Sahib, about 15 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nurpur Bedi community development block and is served by the Jatpur, Jatpur Bholewal gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 038440, and it covers 238 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,031 people in Jatpur: 533 men and 498 women, living in 215 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 238 hectares, the population density works out to about 433 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 934 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 94, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 229 people, about 22 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 79.62 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 88.17 per cent and women at 70.55 per cent.
