Where is Kartarpur?

Kartarpur is a village of Anandpur Sahib tehsil in Rupnagar district, Punjab, in the Puadh region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Anandpur Sahib, about 18 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nurpur Bedi community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 038437, and it covers 223 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,571 people in Kartarpur: 827 men and 744 women, living in 320 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 223 hectares, the population density works out to about 704 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 900 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 185, about 12 per cent of the village.
