Where is Madhopur?

Madhopur is a village of Anandpur Sahib tehsil in Rupnagar district, Punjab, in the Puadh region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Rupnagar, about 15 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Nurpur Bedi community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 038499, and it covers 222 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 859 people in Madhopur: 446 men and 413 women, living in 174 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 222 hectares, the population density works out to about 387 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 926 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 80, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 214 people, about 25 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Neighbouring villages include Dahirpur, Abiana Kalan, Batarla and Nangal.
