Where is Bhathuwan?

Bhathuwan is a village in Moonak tehsil of Sangrur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Moonak, about 6 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Lehragaga community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039924, and it covers 510 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,331 people in Bhathuwan: 1,236 men and 1,095 women, living in 423 households, an average of about 5.5 people per household. Spread over its 510 hectares, the population density works out to about 457 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 886 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 290, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 957 people, about 41 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 48.06 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 55.3 per cent and women at 39.7 per cent. The census recorded 817 workers, about 35 per cent of the village.
