Where is Dhangtana?

Dhangtana is a village in Kharar tehsil of SAS Nagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Puadh region, and the 2011 directory recorded Kurali, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Majri community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039010, and it covers 71 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 264 people in Dhangtana: 145 men and 119 women, living in 47 households, an average of about 5.6 people per household. Spread over its 71 hectares, the population density works out to about 372 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 821 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 28, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 29 people, about 11 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
