Where is Labangarh?

Labangarh is a village in Kharar tehsil of SAS Nagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Puadh region, and the 2011 directory recorded Kurali, about 9 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Majri community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039024, and it covers 229 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 879 people in Labangarh: 462 men and 417 women, living in 170 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 229 hectares, the population density works out to about 384 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 903 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 114, about 13 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 0 people, about 0 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 74.38 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 80.96 per cent and women at 67.39 per cent. The census recorded 400 workers, about 46 per cent of the village. Kharar, the tehsil headquarters, and Mohali, the district headquarters, are the practical hubs for administration and onward travel. Neighbouring villages include Barsalpur, Khizarabad, Thana Gobindgarh and Mehrauli.
