Where is Rurka?

Rurka is a village in SAS Nagar tehsil of SAS Nagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Puadh region, and the 2011 directory recorded S.A.S. Nagar, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Kharar community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039192, and it covers 165 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,062 people in Rurka: 561 men and 501 women, living in 219 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 165 hectares, the population density works out to about 644 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 893 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 129, about 12 per cent of the village.
