Where is Tirtha?

Tirtha is a village in Kharar tehsil of SAS Nagar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Puadh region, and the 2011 directory recorded Kurali, about 7 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Majri community development block and is served by the Suhali gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 039076, and it covers 86 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 190 people in Tirtha: 102 men and 88 women, living in 35 households, an average of about 5.4 people per household. Spread over its 86 hectares, the population density works out to about 221 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 863 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 18, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 39 people, about 21 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
