Bhaddi is a village of Balachaur tehsil in SBS Nagar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Balachaur, about 13 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Balachaur community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032447, and it covers 1,296 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,264 people in Bhaddi: 661 men and 603 women, living in 275 households, an average of about 4.6 people per household. Spread over its 1,296 hectares, the population density works out to about 98 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 912 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 172, about 14 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 431 people, about 34 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 75.27 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 81.39 per cent and women at 68.47 per cent. The census recorded 414 workers, about 33 per cent of the village. Of the 307 main workers, the largest group, 214, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 66 agricultural labourers and 14 cultivators on their own land. A further 107 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
