The village falls in the Nawanshahr community development block and is served by the Hussain Pur gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032286, and it covers 579 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,226 people in Hussainpur: 653 men and 573 women, living in 232 households, an average of about 5.3 people per household. Spread over its 579 hectares, the population density works out to about 212 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 877 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 110, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 949 people, about 77 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
