Where is Mallo Mazara?

Mallo Mazara is a village of Nawanshahr tehsil in SBS Nagar district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Nawansahar, about 20 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Aur community development block and is served by the Bakhlaur gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032214, and it covers 244 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 714 people in Mallo Mazara: 352 men and 362 women, living in 166 households, an average of about 4.3 people per household. Spread over its 244 hectares, the population density works out to about 293 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1028 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 70, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 134 people, about 19 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 75.78 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 76.03 per cent and women at 75.54 per cent. The census recorded 224 workers, about 31 per cent of the village. Nawanshahr, the tehsil headquarters, and Nawanshahr, the district headquarters, are the practical hubs for administration and onward travel. Neighbouring villages include Bakhlaur, Ratainda, Chak Dana and Khurd.
