The 2011 directory recorded Tarn Taran, about 20 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Naushera Pannuan community development block and has its own gram panchayat. The 2011 census counted 1,134 people in Durgapur Garbi: 591 men and 543 women, living in 216 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household.
