The 2011 directory recorded Khem Karan, about 21 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Valtoha community development block and has its own gram panchayat. The 2011 census counted 2,625 people in Madar Mathra Bhagi: 1,385 men and 1,240 women, living in 410 households, an average of about 6.4 people per household.
