Punjab is set to host the Men's Asian Hockey Champions Trophy from October 27, with matches planned in Jalandhar and Mohali.

The Asian Hockey Federation invited Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to the Asian Games hockey semifinals in Japan on September 21 as preparations gathered pace.

Hosting the continental event is seen as a boost for Punjab, which has a deep hockey tradition and has produced many of India's internationals. Officials say venues are being readied for teams and broadcast.
