Where is Jatta?

Jatta is a village in Ajnala tehsil of Amritsar district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Majha region, and the 2011 directory recorded Ramdas, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Ajnala community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 037092, and it covers 194 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,078 people in Jatta: 565 men and 513 women, living in 191 households, an average of about 5.6 people per household. Spread over its 194 hectares, the population density works out to about 556 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 908 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 122, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 37 people, about 3 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
