Where is Lakhuwal?

Lakhuwal is a village of Ajnala tehsil in Amritsar district, Punjab, in the Majha region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Ramdas, about 6 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Ajnala community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 037266, and it covers 334 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 609 people in Lakhuwal: 320 men and 289 women, living in 114 households, an average of about 5.3 people per household. Spread over its 334 hectares, the population density works out to about 182 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 903 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 85, about 14 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 89 people, about 15 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
