It lies in the Majha region, and the 2011 directory recorded Ajnala, about 2 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Ajnala community development block and is served by the Panjagrain Nijjran gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 037359, and it covers 235 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,168 people in Panjgrain Nijjran: 620 men and 548 women, living in 208 households, an average of about 5.6 people per household. Spread over its 235 hectares, the population density works out to about 497 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 884 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 133, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 419 people, about 36 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
