Where is Bahla?

Bahla is a village of Dasua tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Urmar Tanda, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bhunga community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030887, and it covers 170 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 934 people in Bahla: 455 men and 479 women, living in 197 households, an average of about 4.7 people per household. Spread over its 170 hectares, the population density works out to about 549 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1053 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 95, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 373 people, about 40 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
