The village falls in the Talwandi Sabo community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 035903, and it covers 558 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,555 people in Gurusar Joga: 826 men and 729 women, living in 294 households, an average of about 5.3 people per household. Spread over its 558 hectares, the population density works out to about 279 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 883 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 154, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 691 people, about 44 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 64.74 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 73.18 per cent and women at 55.24 per cent. The census recorded 507 workers, about 33 per cent of the village. Of the 457 main workers, the largest group, 226, were cultivators on their own land, ahead of 141 agricultural labourers and 80 other workers in trade, transport and services. A further 50 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
