Where is Sadhana?

Sadhana is a village of Rampura Phul tehsil in Bathinda district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Rampura Phul, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Phul community development block and is served by the Sidhana gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 035705, and it covers 679 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,050 people in Sadhana: 1,100 men and 950 women, living in 396 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 679 hectares, the population density works out to about 302 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 864 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 205, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 790 people, about 39 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 60.7 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 66.57 per cent and women at 53.87 per cent. The census recorded 628 workers, about 31 per cent of the village.
