Where is Birampur?

Birampur is a village of Dasua tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Urmar Tanda, about 5 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bhunga community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030885, and it covers 133 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 785 people in Birampur: 366 men and 419 women, living in 166 households, an average of about 4.7 people per household. Spread over its 133 hectares, the population density works out to about 590 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1145 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 76, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 463 people, about 59 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
