Where is Chak Bamun?

Chak Bamun is a village in Dasua tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Dasua, about 9 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dasua community development block and is served by the Chak--Bamun gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030788, and it covers 341 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,814 people in Chak Bamun: 893 men and 921 women, living in 430 households, an average of about 4.2 people per household. Spread over its 341 hectares, the population density works out to about 532 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1031 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 185, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 369 people, about 20 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 77.16 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 80.26 per cent and women at 74.32 per cent.
