Where is Chak Punnawali?

Chak Punnawali is a village of Jalalabad tehsil in Fazilka district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Jalalabad, about 16 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Jalalabad community development block and is served by the CHAK PUNNAWALI, Rangila gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 034975, and it covers 372 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,060 people in Chak Punnawali: 560 men and 500 women, living in 193 households, an average of about 5.5 people per household. Spread over its 372 hectares, the population density works out to about 285 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 893 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 113, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 714 people, about 67 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
