Where is Badla?

Badla is a village of Khamanon tehsil in Fatehgarh Sahib district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Khamanon, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Khamanon community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032936, and it covers 428 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,233 people in Badla: 625 men and 608 women, living in 245 households, an average of about 5.0 people per household. Spread over its 428 hectares, the population density works out to about 288 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 973 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 134, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 486 people, about 39 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 75.8 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 81.08 per cent and women at 70.4 per cent. The census recorded 436 workers, about 35 per cent of the village.
