Where is Dadiana?

Dadiana is a village in Bassi Pathana tehsil of Fatehgarh Sahib district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Malwa region, and the 2011 directory recorded Bassi Pathana, about 7 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bassi Pathana community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 032556, and it covers 160 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 878 people in Dadiana: 468 men and 410 women, living in 181 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 160 hectares, the population density works out to about 549 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 876 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 65, about 7 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 139 people, about 16 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 83.52 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 86.01 per cent and women at 80.73 per cent. The census recorded 389 workers, about 44 per cent of the village. Of the 266 main workers, the largest group, 141, were cultivators on their own land, ahead of 60 other workers in trade, transport and services and 43 agricultural labourers. A further 123 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
