Ghanga Kalan is a village of Jalalabad tehsil in Fazilka district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Jalalabad, about 12 kilometres away, as its nearest town. In the census record it carries village code 034937, and it covers 1,252 hectares.

The 2011 census counted 1,933 people in Ghanga Kalan: 1,047 men and 886 women, living in 372 households, an average of about 5.2 people per household. Spread over its 1,252 hectares, the population density works out to about 154 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 846 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 227, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 441 people, about 23 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 62.72 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 67 per cent and women at 57.94 per cent. The census recorded 694 workers, about 36 per cent of the village. A further 174 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
