Rotal Rohi is a village of Zira tehsil in Ferozepur district, Punjab, in the Malwa region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Zira, about 3 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Zira community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 034412, and it covers 400 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,415 people in Rotal Rohi: 739 men and 676 women, living in 281 households, an average of about 5.0 people per household. Spread over its 400 hectares, the population density works out to about 354 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 915 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 182, about 13 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 733 people, about 52 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 71.13 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 77.22 per cent and women at 64.73 per cent. The census recorded 416 workers, about 29 per cent of the village. Of the 228 main workers, the largest group, 110, were cultivators on their own land, ahead of 81 other workers in trade, transport and services and 34 agricultural labourers. A further 188 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
