Ballagan is a village in Dasua tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Dasua, about 3 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dasua community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030976, and it covers 139 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,033 people in Ballagan: 516 men and 517 women, living in 224 households, an average of about 4.6 people per household. Spread over its 139 hectares, the population density works out to about 743 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1002 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 160, about 15 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 638 people, about 62 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
