Bohan is a village of Hoshiarpur tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Hoshiarpur, about 6 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hoshiarpur-II community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031551, and it covers 731 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 3,140 people in Bohan: 1,593 men and 1,547 women, living in 668 households, an average of about 4.7 people per household. Spread over its 731 hectares, the population density works out to about 430 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 971 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 368, about 12 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 1,177 people, about 37 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 79.87 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 84.81 per cent and women at 74.85 per cent. The census recorded 1,127 workers, about 36 per cent of the village.
