The village falls in the Garhshankar community development block and is served by the Denowal--Kalan gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031976, and it covers 199 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,157 people in Denowal Kalan: 544 men and 613 women, living in 268 households, an average of about 4.3 people per household. Spread over its 199 hectares, the population density works out to about 581 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1127 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 91, about 8 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 220 people, about 19 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
