Where is Gag Sultan?

Gag Sultan is a village of Dasua tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Dasua, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dasua community development block and is served by the Gag--Sultan gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031000, and it covers 139 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 762 people in Gag Sultan: 386 men and 376 women, living in 157 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 139 hectares, the population density works out to about 548 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 974 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 101, about 13 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 627 people, about 82 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
