Gill is a village of Dasua tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Urmar Tanda, about 6 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Tanda community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030716, and it covers 142 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 626 people in Gill: 318 men and 308 women, living in 133 households, an average of about 4.7 people per household. Spread over its 142 hectares, the population density works out to about 441 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 969 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 58, about 9 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 120 people, about 19 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
