It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Hoshiarpur, about 16 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hoshiarpur-I community development block and is served by the Gobindpur--Khun--Khun gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031589, and it covers 240 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,332 people in Gobindpur Khun Khun: 678 men and 654 women, living in 293 households, an average of about 4.5 people per household. Spread over its 240 hectares, the population density works out to about 555 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 965 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 143, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 373 people, about 28 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 86.96 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 93 per cent and women at 80.81 per cent. The census recorded 378 workers, about 28 per cent of the village. Of the 348 main workers, the largest group, 165, were other workers in trade, transport and services, ahead of 125 agricultural labourers and 46 cultivators on their own land. A further 30 people were marginal workers, employed for only part of the year.
