Where is Khokhar?

Khokhar is a village in Dasua tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Dasua, about 16 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Tanda community development block and is served by the Kaluwal--Kotla gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030797, and it covers 77 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 208 people in Khokhar: 102 men and 106 women, living in 44 households, an average of about 4.7 people per household. Spread over its 77 hectares, the population density works out to about 270 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1039 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 30, about 14 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 7 people, about 3 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 75.84 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 79.78 per cent and women at 71.91 per cent. The census recorded 64 workers, about 31 per cent of the village.
