Where is Kolar?

Kolar is a village of Dasua tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Dasua, about 8 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dasua community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030932, and it covers 109 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 750 people in Kolar: 375 men and 375 women, living in 153 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 109 hectares, the population density works out to about 688 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1000 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 85, about 11 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 406 people, about 54 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 83.91 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 89.52 per cent and women at 78.25 per cent. The census recorded 179 workers, about 24 per cent of the village.
