Machhariwal is a village in Hoshiarpur tehsil of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India. It lies in the Doaba region, and the 2011 directory recorded Hoshiarpur, about 23 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hoshiarpur-I community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031662, and it covers 83 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 896 people in Machhariwal: 455 men and 441 women, living in 174 households, an average of about 5.1 people per household. Spread over its 83 hectares, the population density works out to about 1,080 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 969 women for every 1,000 men.
