Mirzapur is a village of Hoshiarpur tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Hoshiarpur, about 13 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Hoshiarpur-I community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 031609, and it covers 94 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 885 people in Mirzapur: 460 men and 425 women, living in 199 households, an average of about 4.4 people per household. Spread over its 94 hectares, the population density works out to about 941 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 924 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 73, about 8 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 222 people, about 25 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.

Literacy in 2011 stood at 88.67 per cent among residents aged seven and above, with men at 93.14 per cent and women at 83.8 per cent. The census recorded 303 workers, about 34 per cent of the village.
