Panwan is a village of Dasua tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Dasua, about 4 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Dasua community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030938, and it covers 353 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 1,848 people in Panwan: 952 men and 896 women, living in 389 households, an average of about 4.8 people per household. Spread over its 353 hectares, the population density works out to about 524 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 941 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 179, about 10 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 603 people, about 33 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
