Where is Salempur?

Salempur is a village of Dasua tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Hoshiarpur, about 16 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Tanda community development block and has its own gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030651, and it covers 596 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 2,191 people in Salempur: 1,026 men and 1,165 women, living in 547 households, an average of about 4.0 people per household. Spread over its 596 hectares, the population density works out to about 368 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1135 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 247, about 11 per cent of the village.
