Shink Chathial is a village of Dasua tehsil in Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, in the Doaba region of the state. The 2011 directory recorded Dasua, about 6 kilometres away, as its nearest town. The village falls in the Bhunga community development block and is served by the Shink--Chathial gram panchayat. In the census record it carries village code 030943, and it covers 135 hectares.

Population and households

The 2011 census counted 726 people in Shink Chathial: 354 men and 372 women, living in 148 households, an average of about 4.9 people per household. Spread over its 135 hectares, the population density works out to about 538 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 1051 women for every 1,000 men. Children up to the age of six numbered 91, about 13 per cent of the village. Scheduled Castes made up 153 people, about 21 per cent of the population, and no Scheduled Tribe population was recorded.
